On my way to work for several years, I had driven on the M25 motorway past this mundane field with its unassuming tree greeting me twice a day. One day, I decided to get my maps out and find out how to get to that tree on the other side of the motorway fence. It involved navigating single-track roads and a long walk around the perimeter of the field following the path of the high-voltage pylons. The images that follow chronicle my experiments in High Dynamic Range photography where I blended several images at widely differing exposures to capture the huge range in brightness, from the deepest shadows to the brightest highlights.
